That’s great to hear it’s back in the traditional live format — there’s just something irreplaceable about in-person workshops. Volkhonka Mansion is a solid choice too, really sets the tone before RUBAE kicks off. I remember the last time I attended, half the value came from those random hallway chats between sessions, not even the formal panels.

Kind of funny timing — I was tinkering with some home automation stuff recently (bear with me, it connects 😅). I’ve used a few of those 12V micro actuators in my attic vent system and one to automate a small cabinet lift in the kitchen. From my experience, they’re definitely strong enough for light-duty stuff like that, especially when you choose the right stroke length and force (I went with the 15 lbs force one for the cabinet — works like a charm and it’s surprisingly quiet, kind of a gentle hum more than anything). They’re also compact enough to hide behind panels and inside furniture. This page has a decent range linear actuator electric : https://www.progressiveautomations.ca/collections/linear-actuators — I used one of their PA-07 models. Just make sure you account for the end-limit switches and power draw; I burnt out one early on by misjudging the travel length. Lesson learned!

Anyway, all that to say — it’s nice to see real-world events and tech hands-on experiences slowly finding their way back into our lives. Looking forward to hearing who’s speaking this year. Might even dust off the blazer and drop by if schedule allows.

My partner and I have been together for a long time, but we wanted to try to socialize with others, to try something new. It's hard to find places for couples where they won't feel weird. We tried https://www.cupid.com/en/couple/ after reading about it. It was friendly and not awkward. You create one profile for both of you and you can openly write what you are looking for. It was nice to find other people who understand what it's like to be in a couple, but are still interested in meeting new people. So we went to meet those people in Moscow, thanks to this article.
