WIKING was founded in August 1975 by VTG Vereinigte Tanklager und Transportmittel GmbH in Hamburg, a company of the former Preussag AG and the Norwegian helicopter company, Helikopter Service A.S. in Oslo.

Since 14th August 2017 WIKING has a new sole shareholder with KAAN Air INTERNATIONAL AG, Zurich/Switzerland.

The registered office of WIKING Helikopter Service GmbH is in Wilhelmshaven. The operational base is right on the North Sea coast, at JadeWeserAirport. We are able to offer our services to all airports, ports and offshore facilities in this area and along the coast.

Originally founded purely as support for sea pilot transport, WIKING now also flies for international oil and gas companies and supplies the offshore wind industry with personnel and material transport services.

WIKING serves the German Central Command for Maritime Emergencies as an airborne component in rescue operations at sea. We also train the Federal Airborne Rescue Services on the JadeWeserAirport base and, together with the ARGE Küstenschutz coastal protection agency, WIKING provides protection along the German coastline in cases of shipping emergencies.
