KFHB was built by the U.S. Navy during WWII to train pilots on the Corsair F4U fighter plane. The plane’s inverted gull wing earned it the nickname of the “Bent Wing Bird.” The sleek design of the new terminal represents the Corsair F4U. As the Fixed Base Operator at KFHB, Bent Wing Flight Services is proud to honor the airport’s history and pay tribute to the brave members of our military who served in WW II.
