The General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) has released its delivery and billing report for the first half of 2025, highlighting mixed performance across different aircraft segments. While the overall number of aircraft delivered grew compared to the same period in 2024, the increase was driven mainly by business jets and piston aircraft, while turboprops and helicopters faced declines.
Strong Growth in Business Jets and Piston Aircraft
Business jet deliveries saw the sharpest rise, climbing 9.9% year-over-year to 354 units. Piston aircraft also continued their steady growth trend with 810 deliveries, marking a 5.1% increase compared to H1 2024.
Turboprops, however, experienced a slowdown, with deliveries falling 4.3% to 268 units.
In total, airplane shipments increased 4.3%, from 1,373 units in H1 2024 to 1,432 units in H1 2025. The total value of airplane deliveries rose nearly 10%, reaching $12.3 billion.
Helicopter Segment Faces a Downturn
The helicopter market painted a different picture. Piston helicopter deliveries slightly decreased to 106 units (down by one compared to last year), while turbine helicopters fell 2.3%, down to 302 units.
Despite fewer units delivered, the overall value of helicopter shipments climbed to $2.0 billion, representing a strong 20.3% increase, reflecting higher-value deliveries.
Market Outlook and Implications
The growth in business jet deliveries underlines the continued demand for corporate and private travel, particularly in long-range and super-midsize segments. For charter operators and brokers, this trend translates into a larger available fleet and potentially more competitive pricing.
At the same time, a slowdown in turboprops and helicopters suggests market shifts that could impact regional and utility operators more strongly.
Tools for Brokers and Operators
As the global business aviation fleet expands, tools that simplify operations and improve efficiency become increasingly important.
- The Aviapages Flight Time Calculator helps operators and brokers quickly determine exact flight times for different aircraft types.
- The Charter Quote Tool makes it easier to generate accurate quotes for clients, ensuring transparency and speed in a competitive market.
Bottom line: 2025 is shaping up as a year of growth for the business jet sector, and with more aircraft entering the market, technology-driven solutions will be key for staying ahead.
