Take me home

The first patient was flown home by Tyrol Air Ambulance (operating under the name of Tyrolean Air Ambulance at the time) in summer 1976. Now over 3,000 patients rely on the expertise of Tyrol Air Ambulance every year.
In 1983 Tyrol Air Ambulance was responsible for setting up the helicopter rescue service for the Christophorus Air Rescue Association. In 1990 a scheduled airborne ambulance service was established - globally unique at the time.
After a management buy-out, the company became a subsidiary of the regional airline Welcome Air in 1999 and was renamed Tyrol Air Ambulance in April 2000.
