Blue Sky Aviation

Blue Sky Aviation was born out of the passion for flying by two friends, that settled in the majestic town of George, South Africa.
Both enthusiastic helicopter pilots, they envisaged a helicopter school between the foot of the Outenique Mountains and the beautiful coastal village of Haroldsbaai.
In August 2005 they bought their first helicopter, Robinson 44, and Blue Sky Aviation was started.
Five years later (August 2010) Ian Spence (Commercial Helicopter Pilot & Grade Two Instructor) bought
the company and is currently the sole owner and director.
The company has grown to include in its fleet the Robinson RH22 and the famous Bell Longranger.
In 2012 blue sky moved to a new hangar just across from the old one and here the company really settled in and made it it’s own.
In May 2013 Blue Sky Aviation saw some big changes with Ian Spence resigning as CEO and Petri van Zyl taking over the position as the Head of Blue sky.
