In 1961 Aero Commander launched the development of a new business jet. The first prototype of Aero Commander 1121 Jet Commander made its maiden flight in late January, 1963; first deliveries started 2 years later. Among the first Jet Commander owners were American golfers Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus and German publisher Alex Springer. In 1968 the rights to the Jet Commander were purchased by Israel company IAI. The airliner got new name IAI Westwind and was in production till 1987. IAI Westwind can take up to 10 passengers to a range of 4,430 km, the maximum speed is 868 km/h.
