Air traffic still strongly disrupted in Germany.

Strikes in some major German airports will disturb air traffic around the area, partially impacting Switzerland and other European cities.

Today, air traffic in eight German airports will strongly be affected for the third time in ten days due to strikes over security personnel salaries. Many flights to and from Switzerland will also be impacted.

The strikes are scheduled to go on from 2:00 AM to 8:00 PM local time in the airports of Hanover, Hamburg, Leipzig, Dresden, Erfurt and Munich. At least 220,000 passengers are to be affected by delays and cancelation today, according to German Airport Federation (ADV).

In Frankfurt, 570 out of 1,200 flights planned were cancelled, according to the administration, who explained that “the passengers departing from Frankfurt will not be able to board their flight.” Fraport added to their press release, “We ask these passengers not to make their way to the airport.”

Flights to Switzerland are affected. Four connections to Basel are cancelled and so are five flights out of seven to Geneva. No flights to and from Zurich seem to be disrupted according to the data obtained around 5:00 AM this morning.
