In 1984 the Bell Company introduced a two engine version of the LongRanger, which was designated Bell 206LT (LT stands for Light Twin). The reason for developing a light two engine helicopter was the new regulations, stated by the Federal Aviation Authorities, which prohibited single engine helicopters to fly over congested areas. The TwinRanger is the world’s only light production twin that performs as well on one engine as it does on two.
